Air quality in Singapore's west, central, and east regions reached unhealthy levels on Saturday before improving later in the day, according to the National Environment Agency.
As of 7pm on Saturday, the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the central region was at 103, with the west and east regions at 91 and 83 respectively. Other regions remained in the moderate range, with the north at 78 and the south at 79. The 24-hour PSI crossed into the unhealthy range at 7am on Friday, the first time since October 2023.
The National Environment Agency began issuing daily haze advisories on Friday, including a 24-hour PSI forecast. Continued transboundary haze from active fires in Indonesia could keep Singapore's air quality in the moderate to unhealthy range, with dry conditions and smoke plumes over Sumatra and Kalimantan expected to persist.
