Elon Musk Seeks Advice from Right-Wing Thinker Curtis Yarvin on Third Party Strategy

Elon Musk is exploring the creation of a third political party, the America Party, and has sought advice from Curtis Yarvin, a right-wing blogger known for his advocacy of monarchism. Yarvin is recognized as a significant figure within the tech right, often criticizing traditional American democracy.

Despite Yarvin's lack of expertise in third-party mechanics or campaign strategies, he and Musk discussed the challenges of this new political venture last week, as reported by anonymous sources. Requests for comment from Musk's representative went unanswered, and Yarvin declined to comment.

Yarvin has associated with notable technology figures, including Peter Thiel and Marc Andreessen, and his writings have been referenced by political figures such as Vice President JD Vance.

During their conversation, Yarvin presented his political theories, some of which conflict with Musk's views. Yarvin advocates for using mobile applications to automate voting and enhance electoral participation, while Musk has expressed skepticism about electronic voting systems, calling for a return to paper ballots.

Yarvin's provocative stance suggests that American democracy is "exhausted" and would benefit from authoritative leadership. He has critiqued Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, arguing it does not assert sufficient control over federal operations.

Controversy surrounds Yarvin's views on race, where critics argue he has promoted a "hierarchy of races" and defended genetic differences. In a blog post, he alluded to "race science," raising further concerns about his theories.

Musk and Yarvin's relationship is not well-established; Yarvin has previously mentioned trolling Musk online without having met him. Musk's outreach to Yarvin signals his broad search for guidance as he works towards launching the new party ahead of the 2028 midterm elections.

Recently, Musk engaged in discussions about the America Party with Andrew Yang, a former Democratic presidential candidate and founder of the Forward party. Observers familiar with Musk suggest that while he appears dedicated to the concept of a third party, it remains uncertain whether he has developed a concrete plan for its realization.

One significant obstacle for Musk will be finding allies willing to participate in a third-party movement without facing backlash from either Republicans or Democrats, which may explain his interest in unconventional figures like Yarvin.
