Elite soldiers from the Hellenic Armed Forces participated in a study to determine the practicality of wearing the Dendra panoply, a 3,500-year-old suit of armor from the Bronze Age. The soldiers wore a replica of the armor and engaged in simulated combat, demonstrating that the human body could handle the strain of the armor. The study, based on analysis of "The Iliad," provided insights into the advanced military technology of the time. The soldiers, similar in body proportions to ancient warriors, showed signs of fatigue and physical strain, shedding light on the capabilities of Mycenaean civilization. The research challenged assumptions about the Dendra armor and its use in ancient warfare.
