Nepal authorities have ordered evacuations following a flood caused by a landslide that damaged infrastructure and disrupted a river in central Nepal, though no casualties have been reported.

A dry landslide in Chumnubri village, Gorkha district, blocked the Budhi Gandaki River, leading to downstream flooding. The Budhi Gandaki is a tributary of the Trishuli River, which was previously affected by a glacier collapse in August that caused a catastrophic flood, killing 1,457 people and leaving thousands missing. The current event has occurred approximately 100km west of Kathmandu, and authorities have confirmed that the flood has swept away several houses and two suspension bridges, while also damaging a hydroelectric project.

Nepali authorities have urged villagers living along the river banks downstream to evacuate and remain safe. National disaster authorities have alerted people in Gorkha, Tanahun, Chitwan, East Nawalparasi, and West Nawalparasi districts about the flood. Rescue teams, including army and police personnel, have arrived in the area, and monitoring is ongoing from a helicopter. Officials have emphasized the need for people in at-risk areas to be moved to safe locations in time and for assistance with search and rescue operations as needed.
