<p>Analysts say Tehran appears comfortable with the limbo, believing it can manage a potential return to conflict and has leverage over the United States, particularly over recognition of control of the Strait of Hormuz, a concession Washington has not shown willingness to grant.</p>
<p>Despite confident rhetoric, uncertainty remains about whether war or peace will prevail, with the prospect of renewed fighting, a distant settlement, and potential economic deterioration tied to instability, wartime disruption, and a naval blockade.</p>
<p>Ramazan Sharif, a former spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, asserted that Iran's enemies have faced strategic defeats, according to state media reports.</p>
<p>Iranian diplomats responded more cautiously to the halt in fighting, avoiding any indication of willingness to compromise, with a foreign ministry spokesman saying the pause cannot be described as a cease-fire.</p>
<p>Officials indicated no negotiations with the United States are taking place, even as mediators including Pakistan and Qatar are cited as facilitating discussions related to the Strait of Hormuz, a key conduit for oil and gas shipments.</p>
