Nepal's flash floods have left villages disconnected from Kathmandu, with many residents missing and rescue efforts lagging.
With the death toll in Nepal well into the hundreds and rising, many villages remain physically and electronically cut off from Kathmandu. Bidhya Rajput, a journalist from Nuwakot District, said her home was swept away by the Trisuli River, and only four or five people from Sole village managed to escape. Others were unable to flee as the floods came suddenly.
The government has declared Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Dhading districts as the most affected. Rajput said her husband's parents remain missing, and state assistance has not reached Sole village. Villagers noted that the same area was affected by flooding last year, but this time, early warnings were not sufficient to prevent the disaster.
