Britain's Royal Train, a Historic Symbol of Luxury and Modernity, Is Being Decommissioned

Since the 19th century, members of Britain’s royal family have utilized a private train for traveling across the country, attending official engagements, visiting royal palaces, and even embarking on honeymoons in uniquely decorated rail cars.

However, Buckingham Palace announced this week that the royal train will be discontinued as part of a cost-cutting initiative.

This decision is expected to positively impact the royal finances but also represents the loss of a historical symbol of the British monarchy, creating a link between King Charles III and his great-great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
