Cyril Ramaphosa’s presidency in South Africa initially brought hope to the Black professional class, but as the country faces a crucial election, these professionals pose a significant threat to his party's hold on power. Disillusioned with the slow progress in combating corruption and revitalizing the economy, many have turned away from the African National Congress (A.N.C.), impacting its traditional support base. Despite being a small percentage of the Black population, these professionals hold substantial influence due to their economic power. While the A.N.C. traditionally garners support from the poor, the dissatisfaction of the affluent Black population highlights the challenges faced by Ramaphosa's leadership.
