A new agreement brokered by the U.S. has paved the way for aid trucks from Egypt to enter the Gaza Strip through the Israeli-controlled Kerem Shalom crossing. This comes after Egypt had blocked aid from entering Gaza via its territory following Israel's seizure of the Rafah crossing. The closure of both Kerem Shalom and Rafah crossings has severely limited the flow of essential supplies into Gaza, leading to concerns about widespread hunger. The temporary measure to allow aid through Kerem Shalom is seen as a stopgap until a more permanent solution can be found for the Rafah crossing. Efforts are underway to reopen the Rafah crossing for aid, with U.S. officials expected to support these endeavors in Cairo.
