Suspect in Davis Stabbings Can Now Stand Trial, Judge Rules

California Judge Rules Former UC Davis Student Accused of Stabbings is Fit for Trial A judge in Northern California has ruled that former UC Davis student Carlos Reales Dominguez, accused of a stabbing spree near the university, is now competent to stand trial. This decision follows his treatment at a state psychiatric hospital. The attacks, which took place over five days in the spring, resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left another injured. Reales Dominguez had initially been found incompetent, leading to a pause in criminal proceedings for treatment. However, the recent ruling allows the trial to resume. The judge has also ordered that Reales Dominguez continue to receive medication for schizophrenia.
