F.A.A. Orders Airlines to Ground Some Boeing 737 Max 9 Jets After Alaska ‘Incident’

F.A.A. Orders Inspection of Boeing 737 Max 9 Jets After Alaska ‘Incident’ The F.A.A. has ordered U.S. airlines to ground certain Boeing 737 Max 9 planes for inspection following an Alaska Airlines jet losing part of its fuselage midair. Passengers described a harrowing experience as the plane made an emergency landing in Portland, Ore. The cause of the incident is not yet clear, but the F.A.A. has instructed airlines to inspect a "mid cabin door plug." Alaska Airlines has started inspecting its planes and cleared 18 out of 65 for service. Other airlines, like United, are also suspending the use of certain Max 9s. This incident adds to the troubled history of Boeing's Max aircraft, which were previously grounded after two fatal crashes.
